What Cookies Are
The plain version
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can remember something, such as that you have already been here or what you did on a previous page. Some are set by this site and some are set by the other services embedded in it.
Similar technologies
Alongside cookies, sites use things like local storage and pixels that work in comparable ways. Where this page says cookies, it covers those too.
The Cookies This Site Uses
Strictly necessary
These make the site work: they handle basic functions like page delivery and security. The site cannot run without them and they cannot be switched off from within the site.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, which pages people actually read, and where they leave. This helps us understand website usage and successful inquiries. The website analytics event records the form identifier and inquiry type, not the name, email, phone number or message you enter. We do not use this website analytics tag to target advertising.
Booking
Our booking provider, FareHarbor, runs the reservation flow embedded in our pages. Loading or using the booking flow may store cookies or similar data needed for reservations, security and your progress. Browser settings can affect which cookies are stored. Read FareHarbor's end-user cookie information for its current cookie inventory. Our privacy policy explains how Compass handles information you provide when booking.
Maps
The contact page embeds a Google Map so you can find the boat ramp. Loading it involves Google and may set cookies.
Fonts and website security
Google Fonts supplies the typefaces used by the website and receives technical information when those files load. BigScoots and Cloudflare deliver and protect the website and may use cookies or similar technologies for security and reliable service.
Advertising
Compass has not installed a Meta pixel, Google Ads tag or remarketing pixel on this website. Embedded services may use their own technologies, as described in the provider information linked above. If the tools Compass installs change, this page and its date will be updated.
How to Control or Turn Off Cookies
Through your browser
Every major browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block future ones. The settings sit under privacy or site data. Blocking everything will break parts of most websites, including the booking flow here.
Analytics specifically
Google publishes an opt out that stops Google Analytics collecting data about you across sites that use it. It installs as a browser add on. You can find it at Google Analytics opt-out.
Do not track
Browsers differ in how they handle do-not-track signals and there is no single agreed standard, so we describe what we actually do rather than promise a response to a signal we cannot guarantee.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
Compass does not sell the personal information you submit through its inquiry form. Embedded booking and map services process information under their applicable terms. See our privacy policy and the provider information above for more detail.
If you want to make that preference explicit with us anyway, or you want us to delete information we hold about you, email [email protected] or call (941) 877-0825 and tell us what you are asking for. You do not have to give a reason.
Changes to This Policy
When the tracking on this site changes, this page changes and the last updated date moves. Adding an advertising pixel or a new embedded tool triggers an update. What we do with personal information generally is set out in our privacy policy.
