Accessibility Statement

We want this website to work for everyone, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard on its own, or a screen at high magnification. This page says what we aim for, what we have done, and where we know we fall short.

What We Are Aiming For

The standard we build to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA. That is the standard most commonly used as a reference point. We are describing a target we build toward rather than certifying that every page meets it.

Why it matters here

A large share of our guests plan their trip on a phone, often while already travelling. A site that is hard to read in bright sunlight or hard to operate one handed fails plenty of people who would never call it an accessibility problem.

What We Have Done

Text and contrast

Body text is set at a readable size with generous line spacing, and colour combinations were checked against contrast requirements during design rather than after. Where a brand colour did not pass for small text, a darker variant is used instead.

Structure

Pages use one main heading and a proper heading order, so a screen reader user can move through a page by structure instead of reading everything in sequence.

Keyboard use

The site can be navigated with a keyboard, and the element in focus is visibly marked so you can tell where you are.

Images

Images carry alternative text describing what they show. Decorative images are marked so assistive technology skips them.

Forms

Form fields have visible labels rather than placeholder text alone, and errors are described in words rather than by colour alone.

Responsive layout

Pages reflow to the width of the screen without a horizontal scroll, and text can be enlarged without content being cut off.

Where We Know We Fall Short

We would rather tell you than have you find out.

The booking system

Reservations run through a third party booking platform embedded in our pages. We do not control how that flow is built, and we cannot guarantee it meets the same standard as the rest of the site. If any part of booking is difficult or impossible for you to use, call (941) 877-0825 and we will take the booking on the phone. That option is always open and it is not a lesser service.

Maps

The embedded map on the contact page comes from a third party and its accessibility is outside our control. The full address and directions are written out in text next to it so you never need the map to find us.

Older content

This website was rebuilt recently. If any older page or document is still reachable and does not meet the standard, tell us and we will fix or remove it.

Video

Where we publish video, captions may not always be in place at the moment of publishing.

Tell Us About a Problem

If something on this site is hard to use, we want to hear about it, and a specific report helps more than a general one. Tell us which page, what you were trying to do, and what happened. You can also reach us through our contact page.

Keeping This Current
